Insects

More than 430,000 insect specimens are deposited in Osaka Prefecture University, the most numerous being butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) especially an outstanding collection of small moths (Microlepidoptera), but also fruit flies (Tephritidae etc.), and sawflies (Symphyta) (K. Takeuchi collection). More than 650 holotypes are included. Many specimens collected more than 50 years ago constitute important voucher material for study of the environments of that time.
